Introducing Studio D'artisan!

Today we'd like to formally introduce and welcome Studio D'artisan to the Blue Owl Family! Studio D is a humorous brand that uses pigs as its mascot, but takes quality clothing seriously. The Studio was founded in 1979, in reaction to the decreasing quality of jeans and the chemical wash craze that was sweeping the denim world. During this time Studio D worked with and competed against the others of the "Osaka 5" to create the perfect jean. Holding true to the roots of the denim they were nostalgically trying to recreate, Studio D never compromised on the quality of material and construction. They used red selvedge denim, real copper rivets, replica fits, and a patch with two pigs trying to tear a pair of jeans apart in homage to Levi's classic jean. In 1986 Studio D released its own original fit, the DO-1. While their devotion to vintage methods was not popular at first, Studio D continued with the same attitude to protect the meaning behind their "Artisan Workshop".

In the 30 years since their creation studio Studio D'artisan has never shifted their focus from the details of construction and material. By employing the same factory since its founding, they have developed a close relationship with the craftsmen that create their products, and have the ability to command fine detail on their exceptional handmade garments. Their continuing policy which does not tolerate compromise on fabric, hardware, or sewing creates some of the finest Japanese denim in the world.

Despite a Levi lawsuit that forced them to change their patch (which now shows the pigs trying to pull apart Mt. Fuji), Studio D still commands the same respect in the international market that it has since the 90's. Studio D will be arriving and go online later this week! To start off we're getting their 103 Tapered fit, 107 Skinny Fit, and 106 hybrid skinny/taper in a nice, solid, 15oz unsanforized fabric. The picture above is a well-worn 103. Check the blog later this week for details on the denim!
