The West is Dead - Spring 2012 Preview

A few months ago I visited the The West is Dead and viewed their upcoming spring/summer 2012 collection. What impressed me immediately was the quality of fabrics and detailed construction for the price point. Although they are a vintage Americana inspired label, they seem to pull together a very refreshing pallette of colors combined with a slim modern fit. Spring 2012 will be only the West is Dead's second season, and we are really excited to see how they grow as a label. Here are a few photos from my visit of the spring collection.

The West is Dead has done a lot of things right, and I feel some of their best pieces are within their basics and their duck canvas pants. Their basics such as henleys and hoodies are simply designed and sewn to perfection, offer a fit that is slim through the body and arms and with just the right length, and great colors. The duck canvas....well we just received a few colors from the fall collection which look great, and spring brings even more options. The fit is a nice slim tapered fit with a narrow leg opening and the fabrics are incredibly soft due to the processing.

Denim and denim jackets are also in the mix. The above denim barn jacket was a nicely detailed piece with a great fit and made with a 12.5oz selvedge from Kaihara Mills of Japan, sewn in USA.

The denim is offered in a variety of washes and 3 fits, the duck canvas pants are offered in slim and straight leg. More details on these in the near future.

This is a closer picture of the 5 duck canvas colors currently offered for fall. From left to right the colors are rust beetle, moss, charcoal, dark cranberry, and gold dust. We just received moss, charcoal, and gold dust and might bring in the others soon. More details about the West is Dead spring 2012 collection will be posted soon when we get photos from their spring lookbook.
